All Amphibians are cold-blooded and have a few common characteristics, including having thin, bare skin without any scales and a membrane between their toes to help them wade through water. Frogs, Toads, Salamanders, and Newts are all classified as Amphibians and are one of the most important ecological indicators. Their presence is an indication that the freshwater habitat is healthy, and their absence is often linked to water pollution.
Amphibians have existed for about 300 million years, yet within the last several decades more than 120 species are thought to have disappeared due to climate change and deforestation which affects their habitat. To help save our Amphibian species, try your best to reduce your carbon footprint and save water by turning off taps when you aren’t using them and taking shorter showers.
